Known to his Japanese friends as Tado (タド), Thaddeus Pope is an event photography specialist who has photographed more than 70 international multi-day events and conferences in Osaka, Kobe and Nagoya (Japan); London and Brighton (UK); Barcelona (Spain); Hawaii and Rhode Island (USA); and Dubai (UAE).
Based in Japan, Thaddeus primarily works in the Kansai region (Osaka, Kyoto, Kobe and Nara) and Chugoku region (Hiroshima, Okayama, Shimane and Tottori), but he is available for assignments anywhere in Japan (including Hokkaido and Okinawa) and can reach Tokyo by a one-hour direct flight.
In his role as principal photographer for The International Academic Forum (IAFOR), Thaddeus has photographed events organised with the Government of Japan, The Wall Street Journal, J. Walter Thompson, Merrill Lynch, The American Chamber of Commerce Japan (ACCJ), University College London (UCL), the International Association for Cross-Cultural Psychology (IACCP), Virginia Tech., Osaka University, the University of Hawaii and the University of Barcelona.
Over the years, Thaddeus has had the privilege of meeting and photographing leading figures from a diverse range of fields and industries, including government ministers, politicians, diplomats, university presidents, charity leaders, film directors, journalists, CEOs, actors, activists, artists, architects, musicians, lawyers, jurists, poets, writers, clergy, scientists and philosophers. His event photography has appeared in Newsweek (Japan), Eye Magazine and The Japan Times, among others.
Thaddeus is passionate about creating photographs that capture the essence and aesthetics of his clients’ unique events. His approach to event photography is informed by his extensive documentary photography experience. As a documentarian, Thaddeus aims to record moments that best encapsulate the mood and story of each event he photographs. He achieves this by working quietly and unobtrusively as a “fly-on-the-wall” observer.
His event photography service covers, but is not limited to, the following types of events: academic conferences, business and corporate events, PR events, award ceremonies, exhibitions, trade shows, grand openings, sporting events and tournaments, and live music.
TADO Visuals is available for event photography assignments in Japan and around the world. If you would like to make a booking enquiry, please use the contact form or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
